For the past 5 years I've been supporting the research and development of various electric vehicles.
People work in automotive product development not because it's easy but because it's hard. Anyone can design a phone.
Tesla
Model S refresh & Model X
Fortunate to work on the Models S refresh and later the Model X release and launch teams.
Plastic/Composites design and engineering
assignments in the areas of Front Fascia, Rear Fascia Assemblies, Engine compartment and Exterior components were completed and delivered. Also included were drawing and GD+T releases.
Successful “Tesla Style” Model X launch included in this time frame.
Zoox Driverless Taxi
Zoox was a pleasure as well as a great experience. Just a wonderful culture and team to work within. Bulkheads Inner, outer design and interface were my area of responsibility. Definately one of the highest area's of component interface in the vehicle architecture. Although predominantly SMC (sheet molded composite) material, a significant number of components were cast and extruded aluminum.
EV Automotive Startups
SF Motors, Indi Electric Vehicles and Faraday Future Startups.
One great aspects of working for a startup is the opportunity to work in different areas usually kept seperate by normal OEM's.
For example at Indi Electric I worked in Body In White, Interior Trim, Packaging and HVAC. All advanced development work as well. Wonderful!
